Seeks A Generalist Physician

Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group is a large academic multidisciplinary group based in Columbia, SC. The Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group- Department of OB/GYN is recruiting a BC/BE academic specialist as a general OB/GYN physician to meet the needs of our expanding programs.

  • Our academic specialists in general OB/GYN practice inpatient OB/GYN care at the Prisma Health Richland campus.  
  • The ambulatory care location for this position is in Northeast Columbia.
  • The Generalist position will have a wide range of clinical practice and will be involved in the clinical education of medical students, PA students, and residents.
  • The clinical inpatient practice is supported by Laborists who cover the majority of labor and delivery calls.
  • Call responsibility for this position includes a partial weekend approximately every 6 weeks, and covering paid time off for the laborists. Urogynecology, maternal fetal medicine, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, vulvar disorders clinic, and genetic counseling are offered by the department. 
  • The department has an active Centering Pregnancy program. 

 

 

Employment includes a competitive salary with a sign-on bonus, medical malpractice with tail insurance, paid relocation, CME allowance, etc. 

An academic appointment is available, based on qualifications and experience.

The Prisma Health-USC OB/GYN Residency Program, Maternal Fetal Medicine services, urogynecology services, and genetic counseling are all located on the Prisma Health Richland campus. The department offers a range of educational opportunities for its generalists. Prisma Health Richland is a tertiary care and referral center for obstetric, neonatal, and pediatric services in the Midlands region. Academic specialists in general OB/GYN have access to sub-specialties in the areas of gynecologic oncology and reproductive endocrinology/infertility services in the community.

Our inpatient facility serves as the primary clinical site for the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine. The Prisma Health Richland Hospital campus has a fully staffed Level III NICU, 16 active labor rooms, and three operating rooms in the labor and delivery suite. We serve a large number of counties in the midlands of South Carolina, and we serve a diverse patient population.

Columbia, the capital, is nestled in the center of the state and is home to the University of South Carolina.  The downtown areas have grown exponentially along with the surrounding suburbs.  Only an hour from Charlotte and two hours from the beaches or mountains. Spend time on Lake Murray's 550 miles of shoreline.  Watch collegiate/minor league sports. Go shopping or dine at any of the great restaurants year round.
