Palmetto Health USC Medical Group-Department of OBGYN

is recruiting a full-time Laborist to join the innovative group at Prisma Health Richland Hospital Labor & Delivery (L&D). This position is designed to cover L&D from 5pm until 7am. There are two full-time laborists who cover the nights six days a week and a part-time laborist who works the last week night. The goal is to have the full-time and part-time laborists work as a team to cover the nights all year virtually eliminating call coverage for the outpatient physicians.  

Experienced Board Certified OBGYN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Labor & Delivery Coverage
  • ER consults
  • Overseeing emergency GYN surgery deemed necessary at night
  • Teaching involves overseeing OB/GYN residents who function as a team and are  present in house each night
  • Teaching, mentorship, and evaluation of residents is required. 
  • Education of medical students rotating on the OB/GYN service.

Our inpatient facility serves as the primary clinical site for the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine. The Prisma Health Richland Hospital campus has a fully staffed Level III NICU, 16 active labor rooms, and three operating rooms in the labor and delivery suite. Our institution serves as the Regional Perinatal referral center for the Midlands of South Carolina. We accept high risk maternal transports 24/7/365.  We serve a large number of counties in the midlands of South Carolina.

Columbia, the capital, is nestled in the center of the state and is home to the University of South Carolina.  The downtown areas have grown exponentially along with the surrounding suburbs.  Only an hour from Charlotte and 2 hours from the beaches or mountains. Spend time at Lake Murray.  Watch collegiate/minor league sports. Go shopping or dine at any of the great restaurants year round.
